Lesson Planning Experience

I have really appreciated walking through how to write a lesson plan, because doing it all at once seems daunting. I think I am doing okay with it, but it has mostly just been difficult to have creativity in this time. Especially because I am not actually in a classroom, or interacting with anyone. Other than that, I think I am grasping the idea pretty well. It is also nice that we are doing the same thing in other classes, because I am getting a lot of practice. The one thing I want to practice more is connecting the learning target to the assessment. I think I am understanding, but I just want more practice. 

Types of Assessment

Assessments can cause stress for multiple reasons, but having variety can be very beneficial for students. The four types of assessment are s elected response and short answer, extended written response, performance assessment, and personal communication. The selected response and short answer option can be helpful and less anxiety-inducing because it gives students multiple choices to choose from. Even if students don't know the answer to the question, they still have the possibility of checking it right by just guessing. However, sometimes these selected response questions can be difficult for students because they make them second guess their knowledge. For example, if two answers are similar, it might be difficult to differentiate between which one is correct.  Extended written responses can be nice for students because they have freedom to express their answer in multiple ways, therefore grading can be more up for interpretation.
